Does the engine type affect the boot hoist design?

Often an engine difference can mean adaptation design variations. This can happen across our whole product range but it is particularly common for the boot hoists when engine differences mean having batteries in varying positions within the vehicle.

Different engine types include:

• Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) This is either a full petrol or diesel engine.
• Hybrid (HEV) This is a self-charging hybrid which combines traditional petrol or diesel with an electric battery.
• Mild Hybrid (mHEV) This is similar to an ICE vehicle as it must use petrol or diesel for power but they also use a small motor to support the engine during acceleration.
• Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) This vehicle type usually has fairly large batteries which means the vehicle drives on electric only for long periods but once they have run out of electric they will revert to their petrol or diesel engine. They are generally charged by plugging them in to an external power source although some PHEVs are now also combining power regeneration as with a HEV.
• Electric Vehicle (EV) This is when a vehicle fully runs on electricity without any petrol or diesel engine.

Not all vehicle models are available in the whole range of engines or some times when they are first released, a particular engine becomes available ahead of others.

We recently completed two redesigns on our boot hoists due to engine differences. Originally we designed our boot hoists for the Jaecoo 7 and the Chery Tiggo 8 on ICE engines. These designs did not work in the PHEV variants of these cars when they became available due to differences in battery location.

Now we have completed the additional design work we have boot hoists available for both the ICE and PHEV variants of the Chery Tiggo 8 and Jaecoo 7.
